October 2009: Caribbean Proverbs
Proverbs sow seeds of wisdom and laughter into the hearts of people and can be found all over the world. This project focuses primarily on Jamaican Proverbs; their relevancy, uniqueness and their occasional absurdity. It explores the literal translation, history and timeless application of the proverb.
Placed in a contemporary setting, some are symbolic, others are represented literally, and still others take the proverb and place it in context. Throughout, the use of colour is crucial to the visual translation of the spoken proverbs, thus the intended meaning is received with impact.
